Board of Selectman

 

Robert "Bobby" Hetrick Jr. is a candidate for the Board of Selectman. Bobby is a third generation, resident of Portland, who graduated from Portland High School in 1993. He has been married to his wife Heather for 19 years and they have a son Tommy, who attends Portland Middle School. Bobby is committed to community service.

 

He has been a member of the Inlands Wetlands Commission since 2005 and serving as an Alternate on the Planning and Zoning Commission since 2019.  From 2002-2006, Bobby was a member of the Portland Fire Department, where he received his certification as an EMT-B and Firefighter-1 with the State of Connecticut. Bobby has been employed as a Corrections Officer since 2006 with the Department of Corrections.

 

He has volunteered as a coach with the Portland Parks and Recreation for a variety of sports working with his son and other youths to develop skills of leadership, teamwork, and a positive mindset. Bobby looks forward to serving the people of Portland and continuing to volunteer in different ways.

 

Being a proud lifelong resident in the town of Portland, Bobby wants to work alongside the Board of Education to develop a stronger relationship with the administration, staff and students to identify needs to continue to move the school system forward in the twenty-first century, while being fiscally responsible to the taxpayers of Portland.
