Shaun Manning
Board of Selectman
Shaun Manning is a lifelong resident of Portland. Shaun graduated from Portland High School in 1985 and went on to study Business at Northwood University in Midland, Michigan. He currently runs his family’s business, Portland own Manning Home Builders. He and his wife Teri have been married for 24 years and have a grown daughter and three grandchildren.
He has been a member of the Portland Volunteer Fire Department since 1984 and is currently a Lieutenant, holding Firefighter 1 and EMR certifications. As you can see, Shaun has a depth of experience in public service and in 2020 was voted in as the Vice Chairman of the Brownfields Redevelopment Focus Group. You may also recall that in 2019 Shaun ran for First Selectman as the Back-to-Basics party candidate.
This year, after lengthy conversations with Ryan Curley and other members of the Republican party, he felt he could best represent members of our community by running for and serving in a seat on the Board of Selectman. Shaun’s main focus is to make wise decisions on public spending, focusing our tax dollars on Education, Infrastructure and Public Safety.
He believes we have neglected these 3 basic principles far too long. Shaun says, “I truly believe by working together, listening to our residents and business owners, we will make Portland an even more desirable place to live and work.
